Alt L1s were so busy trying to solve the trilemma and failed, all the while Ethereum focused all efforts and resources on decentralization and security and left scalability for L2s

Not here to bash alt L1s because each one is unique in its own way. Besides I use L1s other Ethereum on occasion.

However, this post is for the ones that were criticizing Ethereum so much for changing its roadmap and making it rollup-centric instead.

The way I see it, alt L1s were so busy trying to solve the trilemma, it threw them all over the place. All the while Ethereum poured all of its time, resources, and efforts into perfecting decentralization and security (and still is to this day) while it let L2s take care of the arduous task of finding a way to scale the blockchain.

And so far, L2s are doing a bang-up job at that, finding newer and more clever ways each time to scale.

Some are going with zero-knowledge proofs which are also boosting privacy on the chain. Zksync, Loopring, Scroll, Polygon and many more are developing such solitions

And we’re also seeing new coming networks like Mantle develop a clever modular way of scalability where multiple tasks get done simultaneously one different layers built on the L2 itself

This is all extremely simplified, but it actually takes A LOT of time, energy, know-how, resources, and more.

What Ethereum did is basically relieve itself from this pain and focus all of its energy on what it historically is best at, decentralization, and security.

What I’m saying is backed by the fact that no alt L1 is beefing with Ethereum anymore. Alt L1s are now beefing directly with L2s, which I consider Ethereum’s babies
