I just received an email from Coinbase asking me to verify my account information by a certain date to keep my account active.
The funny thing is, I don’t have a Coinbase account and I’ve never been to the website.
I just figured I would give the community a heads up that these emails are starting to surface.
This is the first phishing email that I’ve received that has to do with Crypto and with all the hype and the price action going on right now, they will become more and more frequent.
Practice good online security and protect yourself.
NEVER click on these emails even if you have an account with the exchange. Just delete them.
If you are concerned the email is legit, log into your account and talk to customer support. Never take the risk by clicking on the links or providing personal info.
Every year these phishing emails get better and look more trust worthy and every year people get scammed.
Just a reminder!
