Das Gerichtsdrama zwischen der US-Finanzaufsicht SEC und der größte Kryptobörse der Welt geht weiter. Eine zentrale Frage: Wie sicher sind die Assets auf Binance? Bei der Anhörung gestern, am 18. September 2023, kamen neue brisante Vorwürfe der Kundengeldveruntreuung ans Licht.
Bereits in ihrer Klageschrift legte die SEC fragwürdige Beispiele für die Vermischung und Veruntreuung von Kundengeldern bei Binance.US vor (Mehr dazu hier). Die Gerichtsunterlagen der gestrigen Anhörungen präsentieren neue Anschuldigungen. Der Chef der Börse, CZ, lieh sich demnach 250 Millionen US-Dollar von einer seiner Firmen, bezahlt mit seinem eigenen Stablecoins, BUSD. Den Großteil davon schickte er dann an BAM Trading, die Mutterfirma von Binance.US. Außerdem soll ein Wirtschaftsprüfer laut SEC große Schwierigkeiten gehabt haben, die vollständige Deckung der Assets zu attestieren.
