Bisher verwendete man dafür häufig den Nakamoto-Koeffizient, der die Anzahl der Nodes bestimmt, die nötig sind, um ein Blockchain-Netzwerk zu stören.
Doch darüber hinaus spielen auch andere Faktoren eine Rolle, wie ein aktueller Bericht der Krypto-Analysten bei Messari zeigt. Dazu zählen demnach der geografische Standort einzelner Validatoren, sowie die verwendete Hardware- und Software-Infrastruktur. Diese geben Aufschluss darüber, wie dezentral die entsprechende Blockchain wirklich gebaut und wie angreifbar sie beispielsweise durch regulatorische Maßnahmen einzelner Länder oder Cyberangriffe ist.
