Proof of Authority (PoA) ist ein Konsensmechanismus, der sich deutlich von Proof of Work (z.B. Bitcoin) und Proof of Stake (z.B. Ethereum) unterscheidet. Bei erstem sorgen Miner für die Sicherheit des Netzwerkes, während beim PoS diejenigen über die Sicherheit des Netzwerkes verfügen, die die höchsten Stakes, sprich: am meisten Coins, im Netzwerk hinterlegt haben.
Was ist Proof of Authority?
PoA verfolgt einen etwas anderen Ansatz. Hier haben wir es mit einem Konsensalgorithmus zu tun, der in Blockchain-Netzwerken verwendet wird, um Transaktionen zu validieren und die Sicherheit des Netzwerks aufrechtzuerhalten. Im Gegensatz zu anderen Konsensalgorithmen PoA auf der Identität und Reputation der Netzwerkteilnehmer, anstatt auf der Rechenleistung oder dem Besitz von Kryptowährungen.
